Isaiah 65:25
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion
shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor
destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

1. “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together…”

1). This verse is very similar to
the passage found in Isaiah 11:6-9, in particular Isaiah 11:6.
a). Isaiah 11:6 The wolf also
shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the
calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead
them.
2). What is interesting about this
verse and really the whole of Isaiah 11, is it appears it is all taking place
in the same time period, and yet it includes the earthly ministry of Jesus
during his first coming, the millennial reign, and the church age.
2. “…and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock…”
a. lion [738 * ‘ariy] [Strong: from 717 (in
the sense of violence); a lion:--(young) lion, + pierce (from the margin).]
b. eat [398 * ‘akal] [Strong: a
primitive root; to eat (literally or figuratively):--X at all, burn up,

in...wise(-deed, plenty), (lay) meat, X quite.]
c. straw [8401 * teben] [Strong: probably
from 1129; properly, material, i.e. (specifically) refuse haum or stalks
of grain (as chopped in threshing and used for fodder):--chaff, straw, stubble.]
d. bullock [1241 * baqar] [Strong:
from 1239; beef cattle or an animal of the ox family of either gender (as
used for plowing); collectively, a herd:-- beeve, bull (+ -ock), + calf, + cow,
great (cattle), + heifer, herd, kine, ox.]
1). The verse from Isaiah 11 that
is similar to this section is Isaiah 11:7.
a). Isaiah 11:7 And the cow and
the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion
shall eat straw like the ox.
3. “…and dust shall
be the serpent's meat.”

food (for man or beast), especially bread, or grain (for making

1). This similar verse in Isaiah 11
does not mention the food of the serpent, but it does mention its harmlessness.
a). Isaiah 11:8 And the sucking
child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his
hand on the cockatrice' den.
4. “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain,
saith the LORD.”

(or be) good for nothing, i.e. bad (physically, socially or morally):--afflict,

1). The carnivorous natures that
caused animals to devour each other and be a
threat to mankind are not part of the original makeup of animals. After
creation and before the fall of man all animals as well as man were vegetarian.
a). Genesis 1:29, 30 And God said,
Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all
the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed;
to you it shall be for meat.

earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the
earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it
was so.
2). It wasn’t until after the fall of
mankind and the curse upon the various kingdoms under man that animals became
carnivorous.
a). Genesis 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent,
Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every
beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all
the days of thy life:
