2 Corinthians 5:6

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

a. NLT: So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord.

b. NIV: Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.

c. YLT: Having courage, then, at all times, and knowing that being at home in the body, we are away from home from the Lord, --

d. Amplified Bible Classic: So then, we are always full of good and hopeful and confident courage; we know that while we are at home in the body, we are abroad from the home with the Lord [that is promised us].

e. Worrell Translation: Being, therefore, always of good courage, and knowing that, while dwelling in the body, we are absent from the Lord,

f. Wuest Translation: Being therefore always confident, and knowing that while we are in our natural home [forthis earthly existence] in our body, we are living abroad, absent from [that home in heaven] the Lord,

1. “Therefore we are always confident…”

a. Therefore [Strong: 3767 oun oon apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.]

b. [Strong: 2532 kai kahee apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

c. [we are] always [Strong: 3842 pantote pan'-tot-eh from 3956 and 3753; every when, i.e. at all times:--alway(-s), ever(-more).]

d. confident [Strong: 2292 tharrheo thar-hreh'-o another form for 2293; to exercise courage:--be bold, X boldly, have confidence, be confident.]

2. “…knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:”

a. knowing [Strong: 1492 eido i'-do a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent 3700 and 3708; properly, to see (literally or figuratively); by implication, (in the perfect tense only) to know:--be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell), consider, (have) know(-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand, wish, wot.]

b. that [Strong: 3754 hoti hot'-ee neuter of 3748 as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.]

c. whilst we are at home [Strong: 1736 endemeo en-day-meh'-o from a compound of 1722 and 1218; to be in one's own country, i.e. home (figuratively):--be at home (present).]

d. in [Strong: 1722 en en a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between 1519 and 1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.:--about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (... sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). f. body [Strong: 4983 soma so'-mah from 4982; the body (as a sound whole), used in a very wide application, literally or figuratively:--bodily, body, slave.]

g. we are absent [Strong: 1553 ekdemeo ek-day-meh'-o from a compound of 1537 and 1218; to emigrate, i.e. (figuratively) vacate or quit:--be absent.]

h. from [Strong: 575 apo apo' a primary particle; "off," i.e. away (from something near), in various senses (of place, time, or relation; literal or figurative):--(X here-)after, ago, at, because of, before, by (the space of), for(-th), from, in, (out) of, off, (up-)on(-ce), since, with. In composition (as a prefix) it usually denotes separation, departure, cessation, completion, reversal, etc.]
