One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

1. “One that ruleth well his own house…”

a. [One that] ruleth [Strong: 4291 proḯstēmi, pro-is'-tay-mee; from G4253 and G2476; to stand before, i.e. (in rank) to preside, or (by implication) to practise:—maintain, be over, rule.]

b. well [Strong: 2573 kalōs, kal-oce'; adverb from G2570; well (usually morally):—(in a) good (place), honestly, + recover, (full) well.]

c. one’s own [Strong: 2398  ídios, id'-ee-os; of uncertain affinity; pertaining to self, i.e. one's own; by implication, private or separate:—X his acquaintance, when they were alone, apart, aside, due, his (own, proper, several), home, (her, our, thine, your) own (business), private(-ly), proper, severally, their (own).]

d. house [Strong: 3624 oîkos, oy'-kos; of uncertain affinity; a dwelling (more or less extensive, literal or figurative); by implication, a family (more or less related, literally or figuratively):—home, house(-hold), temple.]

2. “...having his children in subjection with all gravity;”
