1 Samuel 13: 12


Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.

1). Notice that Saul was using only natural circumstances to back up why he disobeyed, the word of God. God’s word responds with Scripture. 


a). 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.


b). Philippians 2:14  Do all things without murmurings and disputings:


(1) murmurings [Strong: 1112 goggusmos gong-goos-mos' from 1111; a grumbling:--grudging, murmuring.] [Vine: used in the sense of secret debate among people; displeasure or complaining (more private than in public).]


(2) disputings [Strong: 1261 dialogismos dee-al-og-is-mos' from 1260; discussion, i.e. (internal) consideration (by implication, purpose), or (external) debate:--dispute, doubtful(-ing), imagination, reasoning, thought.] [dia-through; logismos-a reasoning] [Thayer: the thinking of a man deliberating with himself, a thought, inward reasoning, purpose, design, a deliberating, questioning about what is true,  hesitation, doubting,  disputing, arguing.] [An inward reasoning; doubting in 1 Timothy 2:8; imaginations in Romans 1:21; Through this thinking, man becomes a fool.]
