But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

2). Enduring Word Bible Commentary:  The whole point in being a king was to establish a dynasty, where one’s sons sat on the throne afterwards. 3). NIV Study Bible: Saul will not be followed by his sons; there will be no dynasty bearing his name.

4). DC: Disobedience is serious, Disobedience caused the generation of Israel that came out of Egypt to lose their calling of being the generation of Israelites that had been prophesied for 400 to go to the promised land (Genesis 15; Numbers 13, 14). Disobedience in the life of Saul caused the kingdom dynasty to be removed from Saul house and given to another.
