Jeremiah 44:17

 Jeremiah 44:17

But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

a. NLT: We will do whatever we want. We will burn incense and pour out liquid offerings to the Queen of Heaven just as much as we like—just as we, and our ancestors, and our kings and officials have always done in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For in those days we had plenty to eat, and we were well off and had no troubles! b. ASV: But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings unto her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. c. YLT: For we certainly do everything that hath gone out of our mouth, to make perfume to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out to her libations, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our heads, in cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, and -- we are satisfied with bread, and we are well, and evil we have not seen. d. Classic Amplified: But we will certainly perform every word of the vows we have made: to burn incense to the [a]queen of heaven and to pour out drink offerings to her as we have done—we and our fathers, our kings and our princes—in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then we had plenty of food and were well off and prosperous and saw no evil. f. NIV: We will certainly do everything we said we would: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. 1). There are erroneous traditions within the church world that are believed, venerated, embraced and depended upon that need to be dispelled, that are contrary to the Scripture in regard to this truth. That error is that there is a queen of heaven and more than one mediator between God and man.

a). DOCUMENTS OF VATICAN II, THE DOGMATIC CONSTITUTION OF THE CHURCH: Chapter VIII, The Role of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, in the Mystery of Christ and the Church. Article 62: This maternity of Mary in the order of grace began with the consent which she gave in faith at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross. This maternity will last without interruption until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. For, taken up to heaven, she did not lay aside this saving role, but by her manifold acts of intercession continues to win for us gifts of eternal salvation. But her maternal charity, Mary cares for the brethren of her Son who still journey on earth surrounded by dangers and difficulties, until they are led to their happy fatherland. Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked by the Church under the titles of Advocate, Auxiliatrix, Adjutrix, and Mediatrix. These, however are to be so understood that they neither take away from nor add anything to the dignity and efficacy of Christ and the one Mediator.

2). The Scriptures and comments listed under the definitions will demonstrate that in the above quote the Catholic Church in their theology give Mary the imaginary titles of Advocate, Auxiliatrix, Adjutrix, and Mediatrix. I want to go through the definitions and give appropriate Scriptures and comments.

a). Advocate [Funk & Wagnalls: one who pleads the cause of another as in a legal or ecclesiastical court.]

(1) 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

(2) Here again as always, the Scriptures set the record straight. Jesus is our Advocate, not Mary!

b). Auxiliatrix [Funk & Wagnalls: giving or furnishing aid or support, especially in a subordinate or secondary manner.]

(1) Back in 1973 I had a Pioneer Quadraphonic Receiver that had all the bells and whistles of the top of the line receiver back then. All the buttons and switches, and there were many, were all lit up, they all had lights inside or behind them. There were times I had the lights in the room off and I would just look at it. It was cool. Anyway on that receiver I had an “Auxilary” button. During the course of owning that receiver the regular “Phono” went bad, so I switched the plug in the back from the regular “Phono” to the “Auxilary” and then I went to the front of the receiver and pushed the “Auxilary” button and then I could play my albums.

(2) Jesus needs no furnished support from Mary in the New Covenant.

3). There are many writings in the Catholic Church that label Mary, the Queen of Heaven.

There are also churches named after her in that title. One of the most blasphemous is from a booklet attributed to Pope Paul the VI, written in 1974 entitled “Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary”. On page 7 he writes, “The Solemnity of August 15 celebrates the glorious Assumption of mary into heaven. It is a feast of her destiny of fulness and blessedness,  of the glorification of her immaculate soul and of her virginal body, of her perfect configuration to the Risen Christ; a feast that sets before the eyes of the Church and of all mankind the image and the consoling proof of the fulfillment of their final hope, namely that this full glorification is the destiny of all those whom Christ has made his brothers, having “flesh and blood in common with them (Hebrews 2:14, cf. Galatians 4:4). The Solemnity of the Assumption is prolonged in the celebration of the Queenship of the blessed Virgin Mary, which occurs seven days later. On this occasion we contemplate her who, seated beside the King of Ages, shines forth as Queen and intercedes as Mother. These four Solemnities, therefore, mark with the highest liturgical rank the main dogmatic truths concerning the Handmaid of the Lord.

4). In an  ENCYCLICAL OF POPE PIUS XII called AD CAELI REGINAM ON PROCLAIMING THE QUEENSHIP OF MARY, Pope writes in Paragraph 32: Finally, art which is based upon Christian principles and is animated by their spirit as something faithfully interpreting the sincere and freely expressed devotion of the faithful, has since the Council of Ephesus portrayed Mary as Queen and Empress seated upon a royal throne adorned with royal insignia, crowned with the royal diadem and surrounded by the host of angels and saints in heaven, and ruling not only over nature and its powers but also over the machinations of Satan. Iconography, in representing the royal dignity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, has ever been enriched with works of highest artistic value and greatest beauty; it has even taken the form of representing colorfully the divine Redeemer crowning His mother with a resplendent diadem. In Paragraph 34, 35 & 36, he writes s We have already mentioned, Venerable Brothers, according to ancient tradition and the sacred liturgy the main principle on which the royal dignity of Mary rests is without doubt her Divine Motherhood. In Holy Writ, concerning the Son whom Mary will conceive, We read this sentence: "He shall be called the Son of the most High, and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father, and he shall reign in the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end,"[40] and in addition Mary is called "Mother of the Lord";[41] from this it is easily concluded that she is a Queen, since she bore a son who, at the very moment of His conception, because of the hypostatic union of the human nature with the Word, was also as man King and Lord of all things. So with complete justice St. John Damascene could write: "When she became Mother of the Creator, she truly became Queen of every creature."[42] Likewise, it can be said that the heavenly voice of the Archangel Gabriel was the first to proclaim Mary's royal office. Paragraph 35:  But the Blessed Virgin Mary should be called Queen, not only because of her Divine Motherhood, but also because God has willed her to have an exceptional role in the work of our eternal salvation. "What more joyful, what sweeter thought can we have" - as Our Predecessor of happy memory, Pius XI wrote - "than that Christ is our King not only by natural right, but also by an acquired right: that which He won by the redemption? Would that all men, now forgetful of how much we cost Our Savior, might recall to mind the words, 'You were redeemed, not with gold or silver which perishes, . . . but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb spotless and undefiled.[43] We belong not to ourselves now, since Christ has bought us 'at a great price'."[44], [45] Paragraph 36: w, in the accomplishing of this work of redemption, the Blessed Virgin Mary was most closely associated with Christ; and so it is fitting to sing in the sacred liturgy: "Near the cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ there stood, sorrowful, the Blessed Mary, Queen of Heaven and Queen of the World."[46] Hence, as the devout disciple of St. Anselm (Eadmer, ed.) wrote in the Middle Ages: "just as . . . God, by making all through His power, is Father and Lord of all, so the blessed Mary, by repairing all through her merits, is Mother and Queen of all; for God is the Lord of all things, because by His command He establishes each of them in its own nature, and Mary is the Queen of all things, because she restores each to its original dignity through the grace which she merited.[47]

5). The Scripture is very clear, worshipping an imaginary, mythological queen of heaven is idolatry and provokes God to anger. It is worshipping other gods, false gods. It breaks the first and second commandments.

a). Jeremiah 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

b). Exodus 20:2-5 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
