And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

Gordon Lindsay, Vol. 10, Moses the Lawgiver: On the next day after conferring with the children of Israel and calling upon them to repent of their sin, he again fell on his face before God, at which time the very soul went out to God, that He might not only spare but forgive the nation. Otherwise, Moses asked God that he, too, be blotted out of His book. Jehovah, moved by such selflessness, reassured him; he would never blot out the name of His faithful ones, but only those who sinned against Him. And even these might be saved by intercession,which we shall see, happened in this case.
