Abortion: Child Sacrifice Revisited
We have come to a crucial part of the debate, a very pivotal part. But in order to proceed, we must review. Fact Number 1: Scripture does not differentiate between babies in the mother’s womb and babies just born, a few weeks old or months old. Fact Number 2: The end of a pregnancy, if it does not result in a live birth, is a death and if intentional, a baby is being murdered. In light of the above truths, it is not taking a verse out of context when the principles of Scripture concerning child sacrifice are applied to abortion on demand. In light of Scripture it is inevitable. With this in mind, let’s look at Psalm 106:37, 38:
“Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.”
When children are put to death by abortion, innocent blood is being shed and devils are being worshipped. In the case of America, the idol is “a woman’s right to choose” or a paraphrase from Judges 17:7 , “every man and woman does that which is right in their own eyes.”. This truth alone requires comparisons with passages of Scripture. In Proverbs 6:16, 17 it says one of the things God hates is “…hands that shed innocent blood…” The second is Numbers 35:33 that says blood not only pollutes the land but also, “…the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.” Exodus 23:7 commands that “the innocent” are not to be slain, for the LORD says, “for I will not justify the wicked.” From this it is easy to consider the abortion industry as “wicked”. The LORD says that he will not justify the wicked, yet Proverbs 17:15 says that if anyone “…justifieth the wicked”, they are an “abomination to the LORD.” What does that say about presidents, justices, members of Congress and governors who uphold wicked judgments such as Roe v. Wade and Stenberg v. Carhart?
In the Supreme Court case Stenberg v. Carhart, the 2000 decision that legalized partial birth abortion in all 50 states, there is a paragraph describing the abortion known as “dilation and evacuation”. The following is that description:
“The primary form of abortion used at or after 16 weeks’ gestation is known as “dilation and evacuation” or “D”. When performed during that stage of pregnancy, the D procedure requires the physician to dilate the woman’s cervix and then extract the fetus from her uterus with forceps. Because of the fetus’ size at this stage, the physician generally removes the fetus by dismembering the fetus one piece at a time…The fetus will die from blood loss, either because the physician has separated the umbilical cord prior to beginning the procedure or because the fetus loses blood as its limbs are removed…At the end of the procedure, the physician is left, in respondent’s words, with a “tray full of…pieces”.
All that is left of the baby is a “tray full of pieces”. This is interestingly similar to a passage in Micah 3:1-4 where the prophet rebukes the leaders of Israel for their sins. They are characterized as those “who hate good and love evil”. It is also promised that God will not hear their prayers.
“And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and you princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment? Who hate the good and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the cauldron. Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.”
Indeed, the abortionist appears as if he is making soup, just as some of the leaders of Israel did.
Psalm 94:20 asks the rhetorical question, “Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee?” The next verse says the throne of iniquity “condemns the innocent blood.” The Amplified Bible says in Psalm 94:20 they, “frame and hide their unrighteous doings under the sacred name of law.” This is exactly what has happened in the states that have upheld abortion as a constitutional right. Abortion on demand in America is protected “under the sacred name of law” in many states. It is an ungodly sacredness. It is child sacrifice.
