1 Samuel 31:8

And it came to pass on the marrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in Mount Gilboa.

a. NLT: The next day, when the Philistines went out to strip the dead, they found the bodies of Saul and his three sons on Mount Gilboa.

b. NIV: The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his three sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

c. Young’s Literal Translation: And it cometh to pass on the morrow, that the Philistines come to strip the wounded, and they find Saul and his three sons fallen on mount Gilboa,

2). A common characteristic after a battle was that the victor plundered the bodies of the fallen, and in some cases, dismembering them.
