1 Corinthians 10:2

And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

a. NLT: In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses.

b. NIV: They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.

c. YLT: and all to Moses were baptized in the cloud, and in the sea;

1). The cloud was the Shekinah glory cloud. This glorious manifestation, whenever and wherever it appeared produced physical effects.

a). 1 Kings 8:10, 11 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,

8:11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

1). Jewish New Testament Commentary, David H. Stern, p. 468. “…immersion into Moshe means being united with him, accepting his vision, goals and leadership. The leadership did this by trusting him in connection with the cloud and in connection with the sea…there is an analogy here between immersion into Moses and immersion “into the Messiah…”

2). Again “all” is used.
