Philippians 3:15

Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

a. NLT: Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.

b. NIV: All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.

c. YLT: As many, therefore, as are perfect -- let us think this, and if in anything ye think otherwise, this also shall God reveal to you,

d. Amplified Bible Classic: So let those [of us] who are spiritually mature and full-grown have this mind and hold these convictions; and if in any respect you have a different attitude of mind, God will make that clear to you also.

e. Worrell Translation: Let us, therefore, as many as are perfect, think this; and, if in anything ye think differently, even this God will reveal      

f. Wuest Translation: As many therefore as are spiritually mature [in a relative sense], let us be constantly of this mind. And if, as is the case, in anything you are differently minded, and that, in an evil sense, this also God will reveal to you.

1. “Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded…”

a. Let…be…minded [Strong: 5426 phroneo fron-eh'-o from 5424; to exercise the mind, i.e. entertain or have a sentiment or opinion; by implication, to be (mentally) disposed (more or less earnestly in a certain direction); intensively, to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience):--set the affection on, (be) care(-ful), (be like-, + be of one, + be of the same, + let this) mind(-ed), regard, savour, think.]

b. [us] therefore [Strong: 3767 oun oon apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.]

c. as many as [Strong: 3745 hosos hos'-os by reduplication from 3739; as (much, great, long, etc.) as:--all (that), as (long, many, much) (as), how great (many, much), (in-)asmuch as, so many as, that (ever), the more, those things, what (great, -soever), wheresoever, wherewithsoever, which, X while, who(-soever).]

d. be perfect 5046 teleios tel'-i-os from 5056; complete (in various applications of labor, growth, mental and moral character, etc.); neuter (as noun, with 3588) completeness:--of full age, man, perfect.] [Thayer: brought to its end, finished, wanting nothing necessary to completeness, perfect, that which is perfect, consummate human integrity and virtue, of men

full grown, adult, of full age, mature.]

Adam Clark’s Commentary: The word teleioi, perfect, is taken here in the same sense in which it is taken 1Co 14:20:- Be not CHILDREN in understanding-but in understanding be ye MEN, teleioi ginesye, be ye perfect-thoroughly instructed, deeply experienced.  1Co 2:6:- We speak wisdom among the perfect, en toiv teleioiv, among those who are fully instructed, adults in Christian knowledge. Eph 4:13:- Till we all come-unto a perfect man, eiv andra teleion, to the state of adults in Christianity.  Heb 5:14:- But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, teleiwn, the perfect-those who are thoroughly instructed and experienced in Divine things.  Let us therefore, says the apostle, as many as be perfect-as have entered fully into the spirit and design of the Gospel, be thus minded, viz. Forget the things which are behind, and stretch forward along the mark for the prize.]

e. thus [Strong: 5124 touto too'-to neuter singular nominative or accusative case of 3778; that thing:--here (-unto), it, partly, self(-same), so, that (intent), the same, there(-fore, -unto), this, thus, where(-fore).]

                                                    

2. “…and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded…”

a. and [Strong: 2532 kai kahee apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

b. if in anything [Strong: 1536 ei tis i tis from 1487 and 5100; if any:--he that, if a(-ny) man('s thing, from any, ought), whether any, whosoever.

c. otherwise [Strong: 2088 heteros het-er'-oce adverb from 2087; differently:--otherwise.]

d. ye be…minded [Strong: 5426 phroneo fron-eh'-o from 5424; to exercise the mind, i.e. entertain or have a sentiment or opinion; by implication, to be (mentally) disposed (more or less earnestly in a certain direction); intensively, to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience):--set the affection on, (be) care(-ful), (be like-, + be of one, + be of the same, + let this) mind(-ed), regard, savour, think.]

1). Annotated Bible Notes: “if in any thing ye be otherwise minded”. If in some minor points of difference (‘any thing’) your opinions are at fault, God Himself will set you right. According to this interpretation, ‘otherwise’ must mean amiss, and the teaching is that those who earnestly set upon knowing and doing the will of God will not be suffered to remain in darkness: compare Joh 7:17 Another interpretation makes ‘otherwise’ to mean variously. If you differ in these minor points, God will bring you into harmony.”

3. “…God shall reveal even this unto you.”

a. God [Strong: 2316 teos theh'-os of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with 3588) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).]

b. will reveal [Strong: 601 apokalupto ap-ok-al-oop'-to from 575 and 2572; to take off the cover, i.e. disclose:--reveal.]

c. even [Strong: 2532 kai kahee apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

d. this [Strong: 5124  touto too'-to neuter singular nominative or accusative case of 3778; that thing:--here (-unto), it, partly, self(-same), so, that (intent), the same, there(-fore, -unto), this, thus, where(-fore).]

e. unto you [Strong: 5213 humin hoo-min' irregular dative case of 5210; to (with or by) you:--ye, you, your(-selves).]

1). If they are in error but sincerely want to know the truth, God will reveal it to them. Paul told Timothy to meditate on what Paul told him.

a). 1 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

2). The Scripture promises that those who search with their whole heart will find God.

a). Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
