Leviticus 18:24

Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:

a. NLT: Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for the people I am driving out before you have defiled themselves in all these ways.

b. NIV: Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.

c. Amplified Bible: Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for in all these things the nations are defiled which I am casting out before you.

d. Septuagint: Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for in all these things the nations are defiled, which I drive out before you.

1. “Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things…”

a. defile [2930 * tame’][Strong: a primitive root; to be foul, especially in a ceremial or moral sense (contaminated):--defile (self), pollute (self), be (make, make self, pronounce) unclean, X utterly.][Gesenius: To be or become unclean, to be polluted]

b. not ye yourselves in any of these things [428 * ‘el-leh]Strong: these or those:--an- (the) other; one sort, so, some, such, them, these (same), they, this, those, thus, which, who(-m).][Gesenius: It is applied to the things which follow or to the things which precede. [In sentence structure.]

2. “…for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:”

a. for in all these the nations [1471 * gowy][Strong:  a foreign nation; hence, a Gentile; also (figuratively) a troop of animals, or a flight of locusts:--Gentile, heathen, nation, people.]

b. defiled [2930 * tame’][Strong: a primitive root; to be foul, especially in a ceremial or moral sense (contaminated):--defile (self), pollute (self), be (make, make self, pronounce) unclean, X utterly.][Gesenius: To be or become unclean, to be polluted]

c. cast out [7971 * shalach][Strong: a primitive root; to send away, for, or out (in a great variety of applications):--X any wise, appoint, bring (on the way), cast (away, out), conduct, X earnestly, forsake, give (up), grow long, lay, leave, let depart (down, go, loose), push away, put (away, forth, in, out), reach forth, send (away, forth, out), set, shoot (forth, out), sow, spread, stretch forth (out).]
