Leviticus 18:7

Leviticus 18:7

The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

a. NLT: “Do not violate your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; you must not have sexual relations with her.

b. NIV: “ ‘Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.

c. Amplified Bible: The nakedness of your father, which is the nakedness of your mother, you shall not uncover; she is your mother; you shall not have intercourse with her.

1. “The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother…”

This word scan pertain to physical nakedness of a man or woman (Genesis 9:22, 23; Exodus 20:26)…When used with the verb galah (1540), meaning to uncover or remove, and ra’ah (7200), meaning to see, one finds a common euphemism for sexual relations.]

b. father [1 * ‘ab][Strong: a primitive word; father, in a literal and immediate, or figurative and remote application):--chief, (fore-)father(-less), X patrimony, principal. Compare names in "Abi-".]

1). The only example found in the Bible concerning father/daughter incest is found in Genesis 19.

a). Genesis 19:30-38 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

19:35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
19:36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
19:37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
19:38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

1). There are no examples in Scripture where a mother had sexual intercourse with her natural born son.
