And Jesus saith unto him, See
thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the
gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
a. NLT: Then Jesus said to him, “Don’t
tell anyone about this. Instead, go to the priest and let him examine you. Take
along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed
of leprosy. This will be a public testimony that you have been cleansed.”
b. NIV: Then Jesus said to him, “See
that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the
gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
c. YLT: And Jesus saith to him, 'See,
thou mayest tell no one, but go, thyself shew to the priest, and bring the gift

1. “And Jesus saith unto him See
thou tell no man…”

2. “…but go thy way, shew thyself
to the priest…”

1). Here is shows that Jesus operated under
the Old Covenant.
a). Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus
Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the
promises made unto the fathers:

enjoin:--bid, command.]
1). An important fact established in
this passage is that Jesus verified that Moses wrote Leviticus. The
instructions for healing leprosy are written out in Leviticus 14:1-32.
2). In light of all the godless attacks
on the authority of Scripture I want to show the verses that establish that
Moses wrote Leviticus.Verses that verify Moses wrote the Pentateuch. There are
many more but these I believe are sufficient.
a). Exodus 17:14 And the LORD said
unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of
Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
b). Exodus 34:27 And the LORD said
unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have
made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
c). Leviticus 1:1, 2 And the LORD
called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the tabernacle of the
congregation, saying,
1:2 Speak unto the children of Israel,
and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall
bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock.
d). Deuteronomy 31:24-26 And it came
to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book,
until they were finished,
31:25 That Moses commanded the
Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,
31:26 Take this book of the law, and
put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may
be there for a witness against thee.
e). Joshua 1:7, 8 Only be thou strong
and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law,
which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to
the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
1:8 This book of the law shall not
depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that
thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then
thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
f). 2 Chronicles 34:14 And when they
brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the
priest found a book of the law of the LORD given by Moses.
g). Matthew 19:7-8 They say unto him,
Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her
away?
19:8 He saith unto them, Moses because
of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from
the beginning it was not so.
h). John 5:46, 47 For had ye believed
Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
5:47 But if ye believe not his
writings, how shall ye believe my words?
i). Acts 26:22, 23 Having therefore
obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and
great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say
should come:
26:23 That Christ should suffer, and
that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew
light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
j). Romans 10:5 For Moses describeth
the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things
shall live by them.
4. “…for a testimony unto them.”

tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy
cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
2). What is left off Matthew but included
in Mark’s and Luke’s account, is that the guy went and did the opposite of what
Jesus told him. He told everyone he saw, which ended up in hindering Jesus ministry.
a). Mark 1:40-45 And there came a
leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If
thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
1:41 And Jesus, moved with compassion,
put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
1:42 And as soon as he had spoken,
immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed
1:43 And he straitly charged him, and
forthwith sent him away;
1:44 And saith unto him, See thou say
nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for
thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
1:45 But he went out, and began to
publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no
more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they
came to him from every quarter.
