Revelation 21:25

Revelation 21:25

And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.

a. NLT: Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there.

b. NIV: On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.

c. YLT: and its gates shall not at all be shut by day, for night shall not be there;

d. Amplified Bible:  And its gates shall never be closed by day, and there shall be no night there.

e. Worrell Translation: And its gates shall in no wise be shut by day (for there will be no night there);

1. “And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day…”

a. and [2532 * kai] [Strong: apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

b. the gates [4440 * pulon] [Strong: from 4439; a gate-way, door-way of a building or city; by implication, a portal or vestibule:--gate, porch.]

c. of it [846 * autos] [Strong: from the particle au (perhaps akin to the base of 109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative 1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which.]

d. shall… be shut [2808 * kleio] [Strong: a primary verb; to close (literally or figuratively):--shut (up).]

e. not…at all [3364 * ou me] [Strong: 3756 and 3361; a double negative strengthening the denial; not at all:--any more, at all, by any (no) means, neither, never, no (at all), in no case (wise), nor ever, not (at all, in any wise).]

f. by day [2250 * hemera] [Strong:  feminine (with 5610 implied) of a derivative of hemai (to sit; akin to the base of 1476) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context):--age, + alway, (mid-)day (by day, (-ly)), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.]

1). The gates of Jerusalem/New Jerusalem shall not be shut because of the constant flow of the kings of the nations and the wealth they bring to King Jesus coming into the city.

a). Revelation 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

2. “…for there shall be no night there.”

a. for [1063 * gar] [Strong: a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

b. there shall be [2071 * esomai] [Strong: future of 1510; will be:--shall (should) be (have), (shall) come (to pass), X may have, X fall, what would follow, X live long, X sojourn.]

c. no [3756 * ou] [Strong: also (before a vowel) ouk ook, and (before an aspirate) ouch ookh a primary word; the absolute negative (compare 3361) adverb; no or not:--+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but.]

d. night [3571 * nux] [Strong: a primary word; "night" (literally or figuratively):-- (mid-)night.]

e. there [1563 * ekei] [Strong:  of uncertain affinity; there; by extension, thither:--there, thither(-ward), (to) yonder (place).]

1). There shall be no night or darkness there because of the light of God.

a). Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

2). This is where a few verses from Isaiah fit in.

a). Isaiah 60:19, 20 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
60:20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
