Galatians 2:21

 Galatians 2:21

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

a. NLT: I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die. b. ASV: I do not make void the grace of God: for if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nought. [Thomas Nelson & Sons first published the American Standard Version in 1901. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.]

c. YLT: I do not make void the grace of God, for if righteousness be through law -- then Christ died in vain. [The Young's Literal Translation was translated by Robert Young, who believed in a strictly literal translation of God's word. This version of the Bible is in the public domain.]

d. Classic Amplified: [Therefore, I do not treat God’s gracious gift as something of minor importance and defeat its very purpose]; I do not set aside and invalidate and frustrate and nullify the grace (unmerited favor) of God. For if justification (righteousness, acquittal from guilt) comes through [observing the ritual of] the Law, then Christ (the Messiah) died groundlessly and to no purpose and in vain.
