Haggai 1:2
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built.

Levy, When the Prophets speak of Judgment: Haggai wasted no time in dealing with Judah’s excuses for not completing the Temple: “This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD’s house should be built” Haggai 1:2). The rebuke came from “the LORD of hosts” (LORD of armies), a phrase used by the post-exilic prophets to describe an all-powerful God who will accomplish what he has decreed. This was a stern rebuke to a procrastinating people, especially when God would remove any hindrance to enable them to finish the Temple. God did not refer to them as His people baut as this people, showing His displeasure over their disobedience.
