And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

1. “And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:”


a. And [Strong: 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]


b. labour [Strong: 2872 kopiáō, kop-ee-ah'-o; from a derivative of G2873; to feel fatigue; by implication, to work hard:—(bestow) labour, toil, be wearied.]

c. working [Strong: 2038 ergázomai, er-gad'-zom-ahee; middle voice from G2041; to toil (as a task, occupation, etc.), (by implication) effect, be engaged in or with, etc.:—commit, do, labor for, minister about, trade (by), work.]


d. [Strong: 3588. [tais] ὁ ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.] [Thayer: [tais] ὁ, ἡ, τό, originally τος, τῇ, τό (as is evident from the forms τοι, ται for οἱ, αἱ in Homer and the Ionic writings), corresponds to our definite article the (German der, die, das), which is properly a demonstrative pronoun, which we see in its full force in Homer, and of which we find certain indubitable traces also in all kinds of Greek prose, and hence also in the N. e. with our own [Strong: 2398 ídios, id'-ee-os; of uncertain affinity; pertaining to self, i.e. one's own; by implication, private or separate:—X his acquaintance, when they were alone, apart, aside, due, his (own, proper, several), home, (her, our, thine, your) own (business), private(-ly), proper, severally, their (own).]


f. hands [Strong: 5495 cheír, khire; perhaps from the base of G5494 in the sense of its congener the base of G5490 (through the idea of hollowness for grasping); the hand (literally or figuratively (power); especially (by Hebraism) a means or instrument):—hand.]


g. [being] reviled [Strong: 3058 loidoréō, loy-dor-eh'-o; from G3060; to reproach, i.e. vilify:—revile.]


h. [we] bless [Strong: 2127 eulogéō, yoo-log-eh'-o; from a compound of G2095 and G3056; to speak well of, i.e. (religiously) to bless (thank or invoke a benediction upon, prosper):—bless, praise.]


i. [being] persecuted [Strong: 1377 diṓkō, dee-o'-ko; a prolonged (and causative) form of a primary verb δίω díō (to flee; compare the base of G1169 and G1249); to pursue (literally or figuratively); by implication, to persecute:—ensue, follow (after), given to, (suffer) persecute(-ion), press forward.]

j. [we] suffer it [Strong: 430 anéchomai, an-ekh'-om-ahee; middle voice from G303 and G2192; to hold oneself up against, i.e. (figuratively) put up with:—bear with, endure, forbear, suffer.]
