Isaiah 60:17
For brass
I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and
for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors
righteousness.
a. NLT: I will exchange your bronze for gold, your
iron for silver, your wood for bronze,
and your stones for iron. I will make peace your leader and righteousness your ruler.
and your stones for iron. I will make peace your leader and righteousness your ruler.
b. NIV: Instead of bronze I will bring you gold, and
silver in place of iron. Instead of wood I will bring you bronze, and iron in
place of stones. I will make peace your governor and well-being your ruler.
c. YLT: Instead
of the brass I bring in gold, And instead of the iron I bring in silver, And
instead of the wood brass, And instead of the stone iron, And I have made thy
inspection peace, And thy exactors righteousness.
d. Amplified Bible Classic: Instead of bronze I will
bring gold, and instead of iron I will bring silver; and instead of wood,
bronze, and instead of stones, iron. [Instead of the tyranny of the present] I
will appoint peace as your officers and righteousness as your taskmasters.
e. Septuagint: And for brass I will bring thee gold,
and for iron I will bring thee silver, and instead of wood I will bring thee
brass, and instead of stones, iron; and I will make thy princes peaceable, and
thine overseers righteous.

1).
This is referring to all the wealth that is being brought into Jerusalem from
all the nations of the earth after Jesus sets up His kingdom beginning His
Millennial Reign. Isaiah 60:4-17 covers the bringing of it. Quite a few Gentile
nations are mentioned: Midian, Ephah, Sheba, Kedar Nebajoth, Tarshish and
Lebanon. From Isaiah 60:12, 14, 15 & 18 we can see that this is a
transitional period, going from a period of affliction, violence and being
hated to a period of absolute peace, where Israel will be an exalted nation
which is how it would transpire and will transpire in the Millennial reign.
2. “…I
will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.”
a. I will also make [Strong: 7760 suwm soom
or siym {seem}; a primitive root; to put (used in a great variety of
applications, literal, figurative, inferentially, and elliptically):--X any

to demand a debt.]
e. righteousness [Strong: 6666 tsdaqah

objectively (justice), morally (virtue) or figuratively (prosperity):--justice,
moderately, right(-eous) (act, -ly, -ness).]
1).
Receiving all this wealth will be officials or exactors, collectors of this
wealth, receiving the exact and correct amount from the nation bringing it. As
the text declares, the process will be done in complete peace and
righteousness. The absolute submission of nations that were Israel’s former
enemies is clearly shown. The financial tax will be brought by the sons of,
indicating perhaps their fathers are dead.
a).
Isaiah 60:14 The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto
thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of
thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy
One of Israel.
