Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

2). It is also used in the Septuagint.
a). Joshua 18:6 Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.
b). Genesis 31:14 And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?
3). The clear meaning is a part that belongs to me, my portion, my part. Let us believe what the Scripture says about us, that He has made us able and qualified to be partakers of the inheritance He has won for us. Let us not be as those ten Israeli spies who brought back an evil report after they spied out the physical inheritance that God gave them.
a). Numbers 13:25-33 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
13:26 And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.
13:27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
13:28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
13:29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
13:31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
13:32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

h. inheritance [2819 * kleros] [Strong: probably from 2806 (through the idea of using bits of wood, etc., for the purpose; a die (for drawing chances); by implication, a portion (as if so secured); by extension, an acquisition (especially a patrimony, figuratively):--heritage, inheritance, lot, part.]
1). Through his death and resurrection Christ Jesus has made is able and qualified to be partakers of the inheritance he has provide to us; that inheritance is described for us in the pages of the New Testament. It is our responsibility to get into the word, study, pray and meditate and build ourselves up in faith to receive by faith the different blessings of that inheritance.
a). Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
2). Part of how Christ Jesus accomplished the feat of qualifying us to be partakers of the inheritance is revealed in the next few verses.
