And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.

1. “And he called his name Noah…”

 

a. 1). The word Noah occurs 52 times in the Bible in 45 verses, in some verses it occurs more than once such as Genesis 7:13, where it occurs 3 times. In four verses out of the 45, Noah is not the person who built the ark but one of the daughters Zelophehad of Numbers 26:33; Numbers 27:1; Numbers 36:11; Joshua 17:3. In the 41 other instances of the name it is referring to the patriarch who built the ark.
