He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

1. “He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.”

a. [He hath] filled [Strong: 1705 empíplēmi, em-pip'-lay-mee; from G1722 and the base of G4118; to fill in (up), i.e. (by implication) to satisfy (literally or figuratively):—fill.]

b. [the] hungry [Strong: 3983 peináō, pi-nah'-o; from the same as G3993 (through the idea of pinching toil; "pine"); to famish (absolutely or comparatively); figuratively, to crave:—be an hungered.]

c. [with] good things [Strong: 18 agathós, ag-ath-os'; a primary word; "good" (in any sense, often as noun):—benefit, good(-s, things), well.]

d. [the] rich [Strong: 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

b). Luke 1:47, 48 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

1:48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

(1) Psalm 138:6 Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

(2) Mary here was acknowledging her spiritual condition. As a faithful Mosaic Covenant believer she knew that outside of the righteous system that God had ordained for the Jewish people, there was no hope for humanity. This clearly evidenced by her whole praise report.

c). Luke 1:49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

d). Luke 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
