As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

1. As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

o. ever [Strong: 165 aiṓn, ahee-ohn'; from the same as G104; properly, an age; by extension, perpetuity (also past); by implication, the world; specially (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future):—age, course, eternal, (for) ever(-more), (n-)ever, (beginning of the , while the) world (began, without end).]

1). From Mary’s words we see Mary had a deep spiritual relationship with God accented by her knowledge of the Scriptures. Mary was no spiritual slouch. The song she sings here reveals it. 

a). Luke 1:46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

(1) 1 Samuel 2:1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.

(2) Psalm 34:2, 3 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

b). Luke 1:47, 48 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

1:48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

(1) Psalm 138:6 Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

(2) Mary here was acknowledging her spiritual condition. As a faithful Mosaic Covenant believer she knew that outside of the righteous system that God had ordained for the Jewish people, there was no hope for humanity. This clearly evidenced by her whole praise report.

c). Luke 1:49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

(1) Psalm 71:19 Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!

(2) Psalm 126:2, 3 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.

126:3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

(3) Psalm 111:9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

d). Luke 1:50 And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
