And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

1. “And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;”

a. And [Strong: 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.

b. [hath] raised up [Strong: 1453 egeírō, eg-i'-ro; probably akin to the base of G58 (through the idea of collecting one's faculties); to waken (transitively or intransitively), i.e. rouse (literally, from sleep, from sitting or lying, from disease, from death; or figuratively, from obscurity, inactivity, ruins, nonexistence):—awake, lift (up), raise (again, up), rear up, (a-)rise (again, up), stand, take up.]

a). 2 Samuel 22:1-3 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

22:2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

2). The “hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;” is referring specifically to the Holy Spirit conception of Christ Jesus.

l. David [Strong: 1138 Dabíd, dab-eed'; of Hebrew origin (H1732); Dabid (i.e. David), the Israelite king:—David.]

1). The first half of this prophetic utterance (Luke 1:69-75) deals with the partial fulfillment of the promises to David. The second half (Luke 1:76-79) refers to the fulfillment and ministry of John the Baptist.
