1). Zacchaeus was a well known Jewish tax collector and he was a crook. He had previously stolen from men. When Jesus met him, Zacchaeus promised to give half of his wealth to the poor and restore every one who he had stolen from four times the amount. Hearing this Jesus said that salvation had come to this house, and that he also is a son of Abraham.
2). In his first ministry on earth Jesus' primary ministry was to the Jews (Romans 15:8).
a). Matthew 15:21-24 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
15:23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
b). Jesus eventually responded to her when she exhibited faith. The point is he was seeking the lost sheep of Israel. The descendants of Abraham.
c). Luke 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
