1. “And all the men of his house, born in the house…”
a. and all the men [582 * ‘enowsh]
[Strong: from 605; properly, a mortal (and thus differing from the more
dignified 120); hence, a man in general (singly or collectively):--another, X
(blood-)thirsty, certain, chap(-man); divers, fellow, X in the flower of their
age, husband, (certain, mortal) man, people, person, servant, some ( X of
them), + stranger, those, + their trade. It is often unexpressed in the English
versions, especially when used in apposition with another word.]
b. of his house [1004 * bayith]
[Strong: probably from 1129 abbreviated; a house (in the greatest
variation of applications, especially family, etc.):--court, daughter, door, +
dungeon, family, + forth of, X great as would contain, hangings, home(born),

c. born [3211 * yaliyd] [Strong: from 3205;

d. in the house [1004 * bayith]
See “house above.]

with him.”
a. bought ][4736 * miqnah] [Strong:
feminine of 4735; properly, a buying, i.e. acquisition; concretely, a
piece of property (land or living); also the sum paid:--(he that is) bought,

b. with money [3701 * keceph]
[Strong: from 3700; silver (from its pale color); by implication,
money:--money, price, silver(-ling).]
c. of the stranger [1121 * ben]
[Strong: a son (as a builder of the family name), in the widest sense (of
literal and figurative relationship, including grandson, subject, nation,
quality or condition, etc., (like 1, 251, etc.)):--+ afflicted, age,

e. were circumcised with him [4135
* muwl] [Strong: a primitive root; to cut short, i.e. curtail (specifically the
prepuce, i.e. to circumcise); by implication, to blunt; figuratively, to
destroy:--circumcise(-ing), selves), cut down (in pieces), destroy, X must
needs.]
1). It appears that all the men
were circumcised the same day; that is a lot of circumcisions. About 15 or so
years earlier there were 318 men in his house. So by this time there were
probably more. It would also mean that all the men would be unable to do
anything for a few days, even to the point of protecting themselves. In Genesis
34:25 two men killed every male of a city because they were still sore from the
circumcision, three days previous.
