Galatians 1:22

And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:

a. NLT: And still the Christians in the churches in Judea didn’t know me personally.

b. NIV: I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.

c. YLT: And was unknown by face to the assemblies of Judea, that are in Christ,

d. Amplified Bible: And so far I was still unknown by sight to the churches of Christ in Judea (the country surrounding Jerusalem).

e. Worrell Translation: And I was unknown by face to the assemblies of Judea, which were in Christ.

f. Wuest Translation: But remained personally unknown to the assemblies of Judea which are in Christ.

1. “And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:”

d. by face [Strong: 4383 prosopon pros'-o-pon from 4314 and ops (the visage, from 3700); the front (as being towards view), i.e. the countenance, aspect, appearance, surface; by implication, presence, person:--(outward) appearance, X before, countenance, face, fashion, (men's) person, presence.]

e. unto the [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]

f. churches [Strong: 1577 ekklesia ek-klay-see'-ah from a compound of 1537 and a derivative of 2564; a calling out, i.e. (concretely) a popular meeting, especially a religious congregation (Jewish synagogue, or Christian community of members on earth or saints in heaven or both):--assembly, church.]
