Philippians 3:6
Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
a. NLT: I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault.
b. NIV: as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.
c. YLT: According to zeal persecuting the assembly! according to righteousness that is in law becoming blameless!
d. Amplified Bible Classic: As to my zeal, I was a persecutor of the church, and by the Law’s standard of righteousness (supposed justice, uprightness, and right standing with God) I was proven to be blameless and no fault was found with me.
e. Worrell Translation: As to zeal, persecuting the assembly; as to the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

1. “Concerning zeal, persecuting the church…”
a. 1). Paul was involved in the persecution and martyrdom of Stephen and the persecution that followed.
a). Acts 7:58-8:3 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
7:59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
8:1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
8:2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
8:3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
