Acts 15:38
But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
a. NLT: But Paul disagreed strongly, since John Mark had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in their work.
b. NIV: But Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work.

1). The Book of Acts, Stanley M. Horton: When Barnabas decided to (willed to, purposed to) take along John Mark, Paul did not think Mark worthy. Mark had left them in the lurch at an important point when they needed him for the work. Paul evidently did not believe that it would be good to bring into these young churches a person who might not set a good example of faith and diligence. Barnabas, however, was determined to give his cousin another chance.
