Numbers 33:1

These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.

a. NLT: This is the route the Israelites followed as they marched out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.

b. NIV: Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.

c. YLT: These are journeys of the sons of Israel who have come out of the land of Egypt, by their hosts, by the hand of Moses and Aaron;

1. “These are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt…”

2. “…with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.”

a. with their armies [Strong: 6635 tsaba' tsaw-baw' or (feminine) tsbadah {tseb-aw-aw'}; from 6633; a mass of persons (or figuratively, things), especially reg. organized for war (an army); by implication, a campaign, literally or figuratively (specifically, hardship, worship):--appointed time, (+) army, (+) battle, company, host, service, soldiers, waiting upon, war(-fare).]

1). Israel moved and encamped 41 times between leaving Egypt and arriving at the plains of Moab, near the Jordan River across from Jericho (Numbers 33:5-49). They arrived there in Numbers 22:1. It took about 40 years, including the 1½ years from the Exodus in Exodus 12 to the debacle of sending the spies in Numbers 13, 14. Not including the 1½ years from Numbers 22 through Joshua 3.
