And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;

1. “And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;”

1). One of the women that Solomon married was Naamah, a woman from Ammon. His idol worshipping wives caused him to go after their gods. His son Rehoboam was born from their union. Rehoboam was half Jewish, half Ammonite.

a). 1 Kings 11:4, 5 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.

11:5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

b). 1 Kings 14:21 And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord did choose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
