1). Mark is the only one who mentions that it was the Holy Spirit speaking through David. The most familiar passages identifying God the Holy Ghost of the New Testament as the LORD God of the Old Testament are found in Jeremiah, Hebrews and Psalms and Mark.
a). Jeremiah 31:33, 34 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
b). Jeremiah 31:33, 34 is clearly speaking of the LORD God Almighty. Yet again the inspired writer of Hebrews applies them to the Holy Ghost.
c). Hebrews 10:15-17 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he said before,
10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
d). Hence the Holy Ghost is identified as the LORD God of the Old Covenant.
(2) Mark 12:35 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
(a) Psalm 110:1 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
2). It is clear from this citation in Mark which is also cited in Matthew 22:41-46 that the Jewish understanding of this verse was that it was referring to the Messiah.
