Genesis 12:20

And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

a. NLT: Pharaoh ordered some of his men to escort them, and he sent Abram out of the country, along with his wife and all his possessions.

b. NIV: Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.

c. YLT: And Pharaoh chargeth men concerning him, and they send him away, and his wife, an all that he hath.

d. Amplified Bible: So Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they escorted him on his way, with his wife and all that he had.

e. Septuagint: And Pharao gave charge to men concerning Abram, to join in sending him forward, and his wife, and all that he had and Lot with him.

1. “And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him

a. Pharaoh [6547 * Par`oh] [Strong: of Egyptian derivation; Paroh, a general title of Egyptian kings:--Pharaoh.]

b. commanded [6680 * tsavah tsaw-vaw' a primitive root; (intensively) to constitute, enjoin:--appoint, (for-)bid, (give a) charge, (give a, give in, send with) command(-er, -ment), send a messenger, put, (set) in order.]

c. his men [582 * 'enowsh] [Strong: from 605; properly, a mortal (and thus differing from the more dignified 120); hence, a man in general (singly or collectively):--another, X (blood-)thirsty, certain, chap(-man); divers, fellow, X in the flower of their age, husband, (certain, mortal) man, people, person, servant, some ( X of them), + stranger, those, + their trade. It is often unexpressed in the English versions, especially when used in apposition with another word.]

2. “…and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.”

b. and his wife [802 *  'ishshah] [Strong: feminine of 376 or 582; irregular plural, nashiym {naw-sheem'}; a woman (used in the same wide sense as 582):--(adulter)ess, each, every, female, X many, + none, one, + together, wife, woman. Often unexpressed in English.]

1). It does not mention that Pharaoh took back what he had given Abram because of Sarai, in fact the opposite seems to be the case. When Abram leaves Egypt he leaves very rich in cattle and gold and silver.

a). Genesis 13:1, 2  And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.

13:2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

2). Abram also kept the menservants and maidservants, of which Hagar was one of them.
