1 Kings 18:19

Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.

a. ASV: Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the Asherah four hundred, that eat at Jezebel’s table.

b. YLT: And now, send, gather unto me all Israel, unto the mount of Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the shrine, four hundred -- eating at the table of Jezebel.'

1. “Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel…”

i. Carmel [Strong: 3760 Karmel, kar-mel'; the same as H3759; Karmel, the name of a hill and of a town in Palestine:—Carmel, fruitful (plentiful) field, (place).]

2. “...and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred…”

3. “...which eat at Jezebel's table.”

1). These devil worshippers received official government sanction, while at the same time the government hunted down and killed the prophets of the one true God.

a). 1 Kings 18:13 Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD’s prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.
