Hebrews 3:14

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

a. NLT: For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.

b. NIV: We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.

c. YLT: For partakers we have become of the Christ, if the beginning of the confidence unto the end we may hold fast,

d. Amplified Bible Classic: For we have become fellows with Christ (the Messiah) and share in all He has for us, if only we hold our first newborn confidence and original assured expectation [in virtue of which we are believers] firm and unshaken to the end.

1. “For we are made partakers of Christ…”

b. c. partakers [Strong: 3353 métochos, met'-okh-os; from G3348; participant, i.e. (as noun) a sharer; by implication, an associate:—fellow, partaker, partner.]

d. [of] Christ [Strong: 5547 Christós, khris-tos'; from G5548; anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:—Christ.]

2. “...if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;”

a. if [Strong: 1437 eán, eh-an'; from G1487 and G302; a conditional particle; in case that, provided, etc.; often used in connection with other particles to denote indefiniteness or uncertainty:—before, but, except, (and) if, (if) so, (what-, whither-)soever, though, when (-soever), whether (or), to whom, (who-)so(-ever).]

b. [Strong: 4007 per, per; from the base of G4008; an enclitic particle significant of abundance (thoroughness), i.e. emphasis; much, very or ever:—(whom-)soever.]

c. we hold [Strong: 2722 katéchō, kat-ekh'-o; from G2596 and G2192; to hold down (fast), in various applications (literally or figuratively):—have, hold (fast), keep (in memory), let, ×make toward, possess, retain, seize on, stay, take, withhold.]

d. the [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]

e. beginning [Strong: 746 archḗ, ar-khay'; from G756; (properly abstract) a commencement, or (concretely) chief (in various applications of order, time, place, or rank):—beginning, corner, (at the, the) first (estate), magistrate, power, principality, principle, rule.]

f. [of our] confidence [Strong: 5287 hypóstasis, hoop-os'-tas-is; from a compound of G5259 and G2476; a setting under (support), i.e. (figuratively) concretely, essence, or abstractly, assurance (objectively or subjectively):—confidence, confident, person, substance.]

g. steadfast [Strong: 949 bébaios, beb'-ah-yos; from the base of G939 (through the idea of basality); stable (literally or figuratively):—firm, of force, stedfast, sure.]

h. unto [Strong: 3360 méchri, mekh'-ree; from G3372; as far as, i.e. up to a certain point (as a preposition, of extent (denoting the terminus, whereas G891 refers especially to the space of time or place intervening) or conjunction):—till, (un-)to, until.]

i. [the] end [Strong: 5056 télos, tel'-os; from a primary τέλλω téllō (to set out for a definite point or goal); properly, the point aimed at as a limit, i.e. (by implication) the conclusion of an act or state (termination (literally, figuratively or indefinitely), result (immediate, ultimate or prophetic), purpose); specially, an impost or levy (as paid):—+ continual, custom, end(-ing), finally, uttermost.]
