Hebrews 4:4

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

a. ASV: For he hath said somewhere of the seventh day on this wise, And God rested on the seventh day from all his works;

1. “For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise…”

a. For [Strong: 1063 gár, gar; a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):—and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

b. he spake [Strong: 2046 eréō, er-eh'-o; probably a fuller form of G4483; an alternate for G2036 in certain tenses; to utter, i.e. speak or say:—call, say, speak (of), tell.]

c. [in a] certain place [Strong: 4225 poú, poo; genitive case of an indefinite pronoun πός pós (some) otherwise obsolete (compare G4214); as adverb of place, somewhere, i.e. nearly:—about, a certain place.]

1). Found in two places.

a). Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

b). Genesis 2:2, 3 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
