Hebrews 4:6

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

a. ASV: Seeing therefore it remaineth that some should enter thereinto, and they to whom the good tidings were before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,

  

b. YLT: Since then, it remaineth for certain to enter into it, and those who did first hear good news entered not in because of unbelief --

d. Amplified Bible Classic: Seeing then that the promise remains over [from past times] for some to enter that rest, and that those who formerly were given the good news about it and the opportunity, failed to appropriate it and did not enter because of disobedience,

1. “Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein…”

a. Seeing [Strong: 1893 epeí, ep-i'; from G1909 and G1487; thereupon, i.e. since (of time or cause):—because, else, for that (then, -asmuch as), otherwise, seeing that, since, when.]

b. therefore [Strong: 3767 oûn, oon; apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:—and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.]

c. [it] remaineth [Strong: 620 apoleípō, ap-ol-ipe'-o; from G575 and G3007; to leave behind (passively, remain); by implication, to forsake:—leave, remain.]

d. [that] some [Strong: 5100 tìs, tis; an enclitic indefinite pronoun; some or any person or object:—a (kind of), any (man, thing, thing at all), certain (thing), divers, he (every) man, one (X thing), ought, + partly, some (man, -body, - thing, -what), (+ that no-)thing, what(-soever), ×wherewith, whom(-soever), whose(-soever).]

g. therein [Strong: 1519 eis, ice; a primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases:—(abundant-)ly, against, among, as, at, (back-)ward, before, by, concerning, +continual, + far more exceeding, for (intent, purpose), fore, + forth, in (among, at, unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-)on, +perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore(-unto), throughout, til, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-)until(-to), …ward, (where-)fore, with.]

2.  “...and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:”

c. [to whom] it was first [Strong: 4386 próteron, prot'-er-on; neuter of G4387 as adverb (with or without the article); previously:—before, (at the) first, former.]

d. preached [Strong: euangelízō, yoo-ang-ghel-id'-zo; from G2095 and G32; to announce good news ("evangelize") especially the gospel:—declare, bring (declare, show) glad (good) tidings, preach (the gospel).]

e. entered [Strong: 1525  eisérchomai, ice-er'-khom-ahee; from G1519 and G2064; to enter (literally or figuratively):—X arise, come (in, into), enter in(-to), go in (through).]

  

g. not [in] [Strong: 3756 ou, oo; a primary word; the absolute negative (compare G3361) adverb; no or not:—+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but.]

i. unbelief [Strong: 543 apeítheia, ap-i'-thi-ah; from G545; disbelief (obstinate and rebellious):—disobedience, unbelief.]
