Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.

2. “...The God of heaven, he will prosper us…”

a. 3. “...therefore we his servants will arise and build…”

4. “...but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.”

a. but ye have no [Strong: 369 'ayin ah'-yin as if from a primitive root meaning to be nothing or not exist; a non-entity; generally used as a negative particle:--else, except, fail, (father-)less, be gone, in(-curable), neither, never, no (where), none, nor, (any, thing), not, nothing, to nought, past, un(-searchable), well-nigh, without.]

[in] Jerusalem [Strong: 3389  Yᵉrûwshâlaim, yer-oo-shaw-lah'-im; rarely יְרוּשָׁלַיִם Yᵉrûwshâlayim; a dual (in allusion to its two main hills (the true pointing, at least of the former reading, seems to be that of H3390)); probably from (the passive participle of) H3384 and H7999; founded peaceful; Jerushalaim or Jerushalem, the capital city of Palestine:—Jerusalem.]

1). The time period for this is 445 B.C.. At this point the land of Israel including Jerusalem had been promised to Israel for over 1400 years. Here Nehemiah tells Sanballat, who was either a Moabite or a Samaritan, Tobiah an Ammonite, and Geshem an Arabian, that they have no part or legal right or even a history in or to Jerusalem.
