Galatians 3:20

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

a. ASV: Now a mediator is not a mediator of one; but God is one.

b. YLT: Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.

c. Classic Amplified: Now a go-between (intermediary) has to do with and implies more than one party [there can be no mediator with just one person]. Yet God is [only] one Person [and He was the sole party in giving that promise to Abraham. But the Law was a contract between two, God and Israel; its validity was dependent on both].

1. “Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.”

a. [Strong: 3588 [ho] ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.] [Thayer: [ho] ὁ, ἡ, τό, originally τος, τῇ, τό (as is evident from the forms τοι, ται for οἱ, αἱ in Homer and the Ionic writings), corresponds to our definite article the (German der, die, das), which is properly a demonstrative pronoun, which we see in its full force in Homer, and of which we find certain indubitable traces also in all kinds of Greek prose, and hence also in the N. T.]

1). Moses was the mediator between the LORD and Israel (Deuteronomy 5:5). The phrase “by the hand of Moses”, is found at least 25 times in the Old Testament (Blue Letter Bible).
