Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.

[hast dealt] treacherously [Strong: 898 bagad baw-gad' a primitive root; to cover (with a garment); figuratively, to act covertly; by implication, to pillage:--deal deceitfully (treacherously, unfaithfully), offend, transgress(-or), (depart), treacherous (dealer, -ly, man), unfaithful(-ly, man), X very.]

1). Malachi, David M. Levy: The word “treacherously” is used five times in this section (Malachi 2:10, 11, 14, 15, 16) and means to deal deceitfully or unfaithfully with another. The people were unfaithful in their relationships with God and with their family and friends.

2. “...yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.”
