But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

1). If Peter was the rock that the church was to be built upon (Matthew 16:18), which he was not. In Matthew 16:18 when Christ Jesus said, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Then Christ moments later turned and referred to this same rock Peter as Satan.


2. “...thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.”
