Job 39:13


Job 39:13

Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?

a. ASV: The wings of the ostrich wave proudly; But are they the pinions and plumage of love?

b. YLT: The wing of the rattling ones exulteth, Whether the pinion of the ostrich or hawk.

c. Classic Amplified: The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, [but] are they the pinions and plumage of love?

d. Septuagint: The peacock has a beautiful wing: if the stork and the ostrich conceive, [it is worthy of notice],

1. “Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks…”

a. [Gavest thou the] goodly [Strong: 7443 renen reh'-nen from 7442; an ostrich (from its wail):--X goodly.]

b. wings [Strong: 3671 kanaph kaw-nawf' from 3670; an edge or extremity; specifically (of a bird or army) a wing, (of a garment or bed-clothing) a flap, (of the earth) a quarter, (of a building) a pinnacle:--+ bird, border, corner, end, feather(-ed), X flying, + (one an-)other, overspreading, X quarters, skirt, X sort, uttermost part, wing((-ed)).]

c. [unto the] peacocks [Strong: 5965 `alac aw-las' a primitive root; to leap for joy, i.e. exult, wave joyously:--X peacock, rejoice, solace self.]

2. “...or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?”

c. [and] feathers [Strong: 5133 nowtsah no-tsaw' or notsah {no-tsaw'}; feminine active participle of 5327 in the sense of flying; a pinion (or wing feather); often (collectively) plumage:--feather(-s), ostrich.]

d. [unto the] stork [Strong: 2624 chaciydah khas-ee-daw' feminine of 2623; the kind (maternal) bird, i.e. a stork:--X feather, stork.]

1). All of the beautiful, amazing, and wonderful elements of creation all down to the smallest part was planned out and designed by the three Persons of the Godhead before Creation. It was all created with man and the redemption of men in mind.
