And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

1. “And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah…’


a. [And he] put down [Strong: 7673 shabath shaw-bath' a primitive root; to repose, i.e. desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific):--(cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep (sabbath), suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.]


b. [Strong: 853 'eth ayth apparent contracted from 226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely):--(as such unrepresented in English).]


c. [the] idolatrous priest [Strong: 3649 kamar kaw-mawr' from 3648; properly, an ascetic (as if shrunk with self-maceration), i.e. an idolatrous priest (only in plural):--Chemarims (idolatrous) priests.] [Gesenius: idolatrous priests, blackness, sadness, one who goes about in black attire, mourning.] [Unger’s Bible Dictionary: (kem-a-rim) idolatrous priests, the priests appointed by the kings of Judah for the worship of the high places and the idolatrous worship of Jehovah.]


1). This word is found three times in the Old Testament. In Zephaniah 1:4 “Chemarims”. This word “Chemarims” is definitely a word I need to remember for future use in relation to ministers who are pro-choice/pro-abortion. The term is used in relation with those “that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham” [Zephaniah 1:5]. Malcham is a variant spelling of Molech, which is established below. I believe this term could be applied to all pro-abortion believers and ministers of the gospel.


a). b). The so called clergy in this group are nothing more than modern day Chemarims, upholding modern day child sacrifice/abortion on demand/a woman’s right to choose. As we will see whole denominations are pro-abortion.


d. whom [Strong: 834 'aher ash-er' a primitive relative pronoun (of every gender and number); who, which, what, that; also (as an adverb and a conjunction) when, where, how, because, in order that, etc.:--X after, X alike, as (soon as), because, X every, for, + forasmuch, + from whence, + how(-soever), X if, (so) that ((thing) which, wherein), X though, + until, + whatsoever, when, where (+ -as, -in, -of, -on, -soever, -with), which, whilst, + whither(- soever), who(-m, -soever, -se). j. [in the] cities [Strong: 5892 `iyr eer or (in the plural) par {awr}; or ayar (Judges 10:4) {aw-yar'}; from 5782 a city (a place guarded by waking or a watch) in the widest sense (even of a mere encampment or post):--Ai (from margin), city, court (from margin), town.]


k. [of] Judah [Strong: 3063 Yhuwdah yeh-hoo-daw' from 3034; celebrated; Jehudah (or Judah), the name of five Israelites; also of the tribe descended from the first, and of its territory:--Judah.]


2. “...and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal…” 


a. [and in the places] round about [Strong: 4524 mecab may-sab' plural masculine mcibbiym {mes-ib-beem'}; or feminine mcibbowth {mes-ib-bohth'}; from 5437; a divan (as enclosing the room); abstractly (adverbial) around:--that compass about, (place) round about, at table.]


b. Jerusalem [Strong: 3389 Yruwshalaim yer-oo-shaw-lah'-im rarely Yruwshalayim {yer-oo- shaw-lah'-yim}; a dual (in allusion to its two main hills (the true pointing, at least of the former reading, seems to be that of 3390)); probably from (the passive participle of) 3384 and 7999; founded peaceful; Jerushalaim or Jerushalem, the capital city of Palestine:--Jerusalem.]

b. [and to the] moon [Strong: 3394 yareach yaw-ray'-akh from the same as 3391; the moon:--moon. Yrechow.]
