And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

1. “And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt…”

a. [And they] dwelt [Strong: 7931 shakan shaw-kan' a primitive root (apparently akin (by transmission) to 7901 through the idea of lodging; Compare 5531, 7925); to reside or permanently stay (literally or figuratively):--abide, continue, (cause to, make to) dwell(-er), have habitation, inhabit, lay, place, (cause to) remain, rest, set (up).]

b. [from] havilah [Strong: 2341 Chaviylah khav-ee-law' probably from 2342; circular; Chavilah, the name of two or three eastern regions; also perhaps of two men:--Havilah.]

c. unto [Strong: 5704 `ad ad properly, the same as 5703 (used as a preposition, adverb or conjunction; especially with a preposition); as far (or long, or much) as, whether of space (even unto) or time (during, while, until) or degree (equally with):--against, and, as, at, before, by (that), even (to), for(-asmuch as), (hither-)to, + how long, into, as long (much) as, (so) that, till, toward, until, when, while, (+ as) yet.]
