Isaiah 55:6

Isaiah 55:6

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

a. NLT: Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.

b. NIV: Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

c. Amplified Bible: Seek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found [claiming Him by necessity and by right]; call upon Him while He is near.

d. Septuagint: Seek ye the Lord, and when ye find him, call upon him; and when he shall draw nigh to you,

e. Stone Edition Torah/Writings/Prophets: Seek HASHEM when He may be found; call upon Him when He is near

1. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found…”

a. seek [1875 * darash] [Strong: a primitive root; properly, to tread or frequent; usually to follow (for pursuit or search); by implication, to seek or ask; specifically to worship:--ask, X at all, care for, X diligently, inquire, make inquisition, (necro-)mancer, question, require, search, seek (for, out), X surely.]

b. LORD [3068 * Yehovah] [Strong: from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God:--Jehovah, the Lord.]

c. may be found [4672 * matsa’] [Strong: a primitive root; properly, to come forth to, i.e. appear or exist; transitively, to attain, i.e. find or acquire; figuratively, to occur, meet or be present:--+ be able, befall, being, catch, X certainly, (cause to) come (on, to, to hand), deliver, be enough (cause to) find(-ing, occasion, out), get (hold upon), X have (here), be here, hit, be left, light (up-)on, meet (with), X occasion serve, (be) present, ready, speed, suffice, take hold on.]

2. “…call ye upon him while he is near:”

a. call [7121 * qara’] [Strong: a primitive root (rather identical with 7122 through the idea of accosting a person met); to call out to (i.e. properly, address by name, but used in a wide variety of applications):--bewray (self), that are bidden, call (for, forth, self, upon), cry (unto), (be) famous, guest, invite, mention, (give) name, preach, (make) proclaim(- ation), pronounce, publish, read, renowned, say.]

b. near [7138 * qurowb] [Strong: from 7126; near (in place, kindred or time):--allied, approach, at hand, + any of kin, kinsfold(-sman), (that is) near (of kin), neighbour, (that is) next, (them that come) nigh (at hand), more ready, short(-ly).]

c. Rabbinic teaching on this says, “the days when God is most accessible are the ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur” (Note from Stone Edition under Isaiah 55:6). The New Covenant is much more accurate and merciful because of what Christ Jesus accomplished for us at the cross and resurrection. Right now is the time! Today get right with God.

1). 2 Corinthians 6:2 For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
