Matthew 13:56
And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath
this man all these
things?

1). It is possible the question are
they not all with us? Refers to the whole family and not just to the sisters,
who are mentioned here for the first and only time. Jesus had four half
brothers and at least two half sisters, children from the union of Joseph and
Mary. The Scripture clearly says that Joseph and Mary were intimate after Jesus
was born.
a). Matthew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this
wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came
together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
1:19 Then Joseph her husband,
being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to
put her away privily.
1:20 But while he thought on these
things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream,
saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:
for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
1:21 And she shall bring forth a
son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from
their sins.
1:22 Now all this was done, that
it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be
with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is, God with us.

1). The question concerning “these things’
was a reference to the wisdom and the mighty works and miracles that Jesus
demonstrated in his ministry. Because they were offended in him, their unbelief
prevented Jesus from doing might works among them, including his own family. Earlier
in his ministry, probably immediately after he ordained the 12 disciples, his
family tried to apprehend him because they believed he was mentally and
emotionally unstable.
a). Mark 3:14-21 And he ordained twelve, that they should be
with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
3:15 And to have power to heal
sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
3:16 And Simon he surnamed Peter;
3:17 And James the son of Zebedee,
and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The
sons of thunder:
3:18 And Andrew, and Philip, and
Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and
