1). Joshua was a great man of God. We first meet him in Exodus 17 almost a year after leaving Egypt when he was chosen by Moses to fight the Amalekites (Exodus 17:8-16). He became Moses personal minister, who went with him up on mount Sinai (Exodus 24:13-18). At times he did not depart from the tabernacle even after Moses left. In this verse he is described as a young man (Exodus 33:11). Joshua and Caleb were the only two spies who came back with a faithful report about the land of Canaan (Numbers 14:6-9). He was chosen by God to be Moses’ replacement after Moses died (Numbers 27:18-23; Deuteronomy 1:38).
