Isaiah 11:7

And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

1. “And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together…”

b. [and the] bear [Strong: 1677 dôb, dobe; or (fully) דּוֹב dôwb; from H1680; the bear (as slow):—bear.]

c. [shall] feed [Strong: 7462 râʻâh, raw-aw'; a primitive root; to tend a flock; i.e. pasture it; intransitively, to graze (literally or figuratively); generally to rule; by extension, to associate with (as a friend):—× break, companion, keep company with, devour, eat up, evil entreat, feed, use as a friend, make friendship with, herdman, keep (sheep) (-er), pastor, shearing house, shepherd, wander, waste.]

d. [their] young ones [Strong: 3206  yeled, yeh'-led; from H3205; something born, i.e. a lad or offspring:—boy, child, fruit, son, young man (one).]

e. [shall] lie [down] [Strong: 7257 râbats, raw-bats'; a primitive root; to crouch (on all four legs folded, like a recumbent animal); by implication, to recline, repose, brood, lurk, imbed:—crouch (down), fall down, make a fold, lay, (cause to, make to) lie (down), make to rest, sit.]

2. “...and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.”

a. [and the] lion [Strong: 738 ʼărîy, ar-ee'; or (prolonged) אַרְיֵה ʼaryêh; from H717 (in the sense of violence); a lion:—(young) lion, pierce (from the margin).]

b. [shall] eat [Strong: 398 ʼâkal, aw-kal'; a primitive root; to eat (literally or figuratively):—× at all, burn up, consume, devour(-er, up), dine, eat(-er, up), feed (with), food, × freely, × in...wise(-deed, plenty), (lay) meat, × quite.]

c. straw [Strong: 8401 teben, teh'-ben; probably from H1129; properly, material, i.e. (specifically) refuse haum or stalks of grain (as chopped in threshing and used for fodder):—chaff, straw, stubble.]

d. [like the] ox [Strong: 1241 bâqâr, baw-kawr'; from H1239; a beeve or an animal of the ox family of either gender (as used for plowing); collectively, a herd:—beeve, bull (+ -ock), + calf, + cow, great (cattle), + heifer, herd, kine, ox.]

 1). This whole passage deals with the animal kingdom during first, the Millennial reign of Christ and then the following age, the perfect age.

a). Isaiah 11:6-9 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.

11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

2). Another such witness is found later in Isaiah.

a). Isaiah 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

3). The earth and all of creation will be brought back to the original state it was created an before sin entered the earth, and before carnivorous natures began in nature.

a). Genesis 1:29, 30  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

1:30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

b). Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

4). The present state of the earth is not worthy to be compared to the glory that will occur in us and in the natural world including the animal, plant, and insect kingdoms.

a). Romans 8:18-23 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
