Proverbs 24:12

If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

a. ASV: If thou sayest, Behold, we knew not this; Doth not he that weigheth the hearts consider it? And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his work?

b. YLT: When thou sayest, 'Lo, we knew not this.' Is not the Ponderer of hearts He who understandeth? And the Keeper of thy soul He who knoweth? And He hath rendered to man according to his work.

c. Classic Amplified: If you [profess ignorance and] say, Behold, we did not know this, does not He Who weighs and ponders the heart perceive and consider it? And He Who guards your life, does not He know it? And shall not He render to [you and] every man according to his works?

d. Septuagint: But if thou shouldest say, I know not this man; know that the Lord knows the hearts of all; and he that formed breath for all, he knows all things, who renders to every man according to his works.

1. “If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it?...”

a. d. i. [that] pondereth [Strong: 8505 tâkan, taw-kan'; a primitive root; to balance, i.e. measure out (by weight or dimension); figuratively to arrange, equalize, through the idea of levelling (ment, estimate, test):—bear up, direct, be (un-)equal, mete, ponder, tell, weigh.]

j. [the] hearts [Strong: 3826 libbâh, lib-baw'; feminine of H3820; the heart:—heart.]

k. consider [it] [Strong: 995 bîyn, bene; a primitive root; to separate mentally (or distinguish), i.e.(generally) understand:—attend, consider, be cunning, diligently, direct, discern, eloquent, feel, inform, instruct, have intelligence, know, look well to, mark, perceive, be prudent, regard, (can) skill(-full), teach, think, (cause, make to, get, give, have) understand(-ing), view, (deal) wise(-ly, man).]

2. “...and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?”

1). This passage Proverbs 24:11, 12 has been applied to the circumstances surrounding 

abortion rights in America, and rightfully so. It is ultimately the voting citizen who votes in the Congressmen and Congresswomen, and the Presidents who appoint the upper level Justices who deal with this issue. If the slaughter continues it is because the voting citizen tolerates this practice.
