Psalm 107:20

Psalm 107:20

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

a. ASV: He sendeth his word, and healeth them, And delivereth them from their destructions.

c. Classic Amplified: He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction.

1. “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

a. e. [from their] destructions [Strong: 7825 shᵉchîyth, shekh-eeth'; from H7812; a pit-fall (literally or figuratively):—destruction, pit.]

1). Under the Mosaic Covenant God promised to heal them from their sicknesses and diseases.

a). Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

2). This passage shows that in their brokenness they cried out and God was merciful to heal and deliver them.

a). Psalm 107:17-22  Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
107:18 Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.
107:19 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
107:21 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
107:22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
